A long time ago, in a blog far, far away I created a persona.  I was under the mistaken impression that I could keep my identity on the down-low, so I made up a name.  It wasn’t easy because I’m not that creative so I used the first thing that popped into my head.  Floating Princess.

At the time it had meaning.  Everyone in my house was into kung-fu and we all teased each with “show me your style!”  We would make up ridiculous names for our “style” and then crack ourselves right up, because we’re children like that. One night I came up with the idea that I would “float like a princess,” and Floating Princess Style was born.

I’ve used that name for three years now, and it’s time that it gets retired.  It has no meaning in my house anymore, and until now no one else really knew what it meant.  Kung-fu has gone the way of the Dodo in my house, or at least into hibernation for a while, and the name sounds ridiculous, even to me. It doesn’t fit, and it feels like I’m wearing someone else’s clothes.

A while back I debated about changing to a new name, a different persona.  But that seems kind of ridiculous too.  I’m not trying to hide who I am, and since this blog is about me, only one thing makes sense anymore.

I am going to use my own name.

It’s a common name.  Around the time I was born it was pretty popular because a guy gave the same name to his daughter.  If we’re Facebook friends then you already know what it is. (if we’re not Facebook friends – why the hell aren’t we Facebook friends?  hmmmm?)  A lot of people have this name.  I debated long and hard about using my name because someone very special in the blogosphere had the same name and I didn’t want to create confusion, or give the wrong impression about why I was using it.

But in the end I am who I am.  I don’t want to make up another name, or create another character.  If I’m going to do that I might as well stick with the ill-fitting FP.

So from now on when I visit your blogs I’m going to use my real name.  I’ll keep my profile pic the same, even though it needs to be updated for mah blondaciousness (oh and the cough50poundscough) to make it easier to figure out who I am.

My name is Lisa and it’s very nice to meet you.
