Take it easy? Puhleeze.
So this week I was supposed to be taking it easy after having surgery on Friday. Isn’t it funny how things never quite work out as planned?
When planning for this surgery I envisioned a supremely lazy week of being waiting on and slothing my way through an entire 10 days. What really happened is more like a study in polar opposites: a day of complete sloth followed by two days of non-stop activity.
Saturday and Sunday following surgery I managed to spend an ungodly amount of time on the couch, during one of only two heat waves this summer. It figures that one of the only times we’ve had temperatures over 100 this summer is when I’m trapped inside a boot that’s pretty much the equivalent of a one-footed sauna suit. I dozed, I read, I surfed, I watched TV, and I begged jeebus for an end to one of anesthesia’s more unpleasant side-effects: the complete shut-down of certain essential functions. It’s amazing how much crappier you feel when you can’t take out the trash.
Monday and Tuesday were spent crutching all over town between the insurance company, DMV, job interviews for the boy, doctor’s appointments, smog checks, shopping for business attire, and going to pharmacies. I crutched my hands sore.
Ahhh, but Wednesday. Wednesday I got my sloth on in a huge way. No one was home so I spent the entire time on the couch watching multiple episodes of House and Criminal Minds. I made myself some mac & cheese, the kind in the blue box that tastes oh so good when you’re looking for comfort food, and I had popsicles and jello. It was truly awesome.
Well, except for the whiff I got of the inside of my boot. After 5 days of unrelenting heat in an un-air conditioned house it was truly stinktastic with a capital OHMYGOD. Hello Febreeze, will you be my new boyfriend?
The highlight of my day Wednesday was a tweet I received after posting a few choice swear words (ok, only one and it started with F) because my foot was kicking my butt for the previous two days’ over-exertion.

I had no idea the language police were patrolling Twitter! My new goal in life is to see if I can get one of these a week.
Today I got to plan a stellar surprise for the boy after a trip to the Apple Store for some school supplies. He was shocked almost speechless to see a new MacBook Pro, printer, and accessories stacked on his bed after he got home from his new job. School supplies get a lot spendier when they hit the college level! I love it when I can pull off a surprise that stays a surprise until the right moment.
Tomorrow I have one errand to run and then I am dedicating my day to resting my purple foot and notgoingtoblogher09. Join me, anyone?

I will be happy to join you at notgoingtoblogher09.
See you there!
PS- re: Criminal Minds- do you think Hotch is leaving the show???

@Princess of the Universe: I haven’t watched enough current episodes of Criminal Minds to know if Hotch is leaving. I hope not! He’s a cutie patootie! I have to catch up before the new season starts.
