So what happens when the girls get fed up with the world and need a break?  They go on Girl-cation!  There aren’t many rules for Girl-cation, but the ones that do exist are important.  First and foremost – no boys allowed!  Don’t get me wrong – we love the boys!  In fact we PPF the boys, a whole lot.  But sometimes you just need to get away and be unapologetically girly.

The other rule for Girl-cation is that there has to be some advanced planning because there is nothing worse than wanting, no needing, to get your relaxation groove going and finding out that there’s a hitch in the getalong.  Like not getting the spa treatments you wanted, or finding out that the retarded front desk boy booked you in the wrong room.

Our Girl-cation festivities began at the spa at the Siena casino.  I started out my day with a 30-minute massage that was painfully awesome.  Gwen, the massage mistress, told me I really needed to come back and spend an hour with her to beat my back into submission. Go ahead, Gwen – twist my arm!  Like I needed an excuse to come back.

Next I did the Coconut Mango Bliss Hydrotherapy tub, which I’ve gotta say was kind of awesome if you like soaking in a jetty tub full of smelly-goods.  The jets alernate all over the tub so one minute it’s on your legs and the next it’s on your back.  Just beware when it automatically starts draining – the drain is under your bum and it will try to suck your butt down the drain.  I may have giggled, I’m not gonna lie.

Between each treatment you get to hang out in the Serenity Room, where they have chilled wine, hot tea, flavored water, and cocoa.  The lights are muted and they have comfy chairs and it’s all pretty laid back.  We ate our lunch in there during one of our breaks.

Next I had the Moroccan Insense Body Ritual, which includes a scrub, a wrap, and a light massage.  The weird part was having to put my robe back on while covered with the chocolate-looking clay stuff, walk through the spa to the locker room, and shower it off.  They should have showers in the treatment rooms like in other spas I’ve been to because no one wants to do the shower march in front of other people while painted up like an adobe hut!  It’s a small fail, but a fail nonetheless.  I did come out of there feeling all shiny and new, and it was uber relaxing.

I had my very first, and most likely last, facial ever.  I am only slightly claustrophobic and really it just involves my nose.  Don’t mess with my nose!  The girl was nice and all the products felt and smelled awesome but every time she plugged my nose I almost came off the table.  So I learned something – facials are not my thing.

After that we did the obligatory mani-pedi, which I have to say I would skip next time.  First off,the vibe of the mani-pedi is just not the same as the relaxing spa treatments.  It kind of harshed my buzz, if you will.  Second the twat that did mine sucked monkey butt and my polish peeled off the next day.  Now I know why she works there – she’s the wife of the spa manager.  It was a complete mani-pedi fail!  But still…better than a finger in the eye (or a day at work!).

The drawback to spending a day in the spa is that you come out feeling like a all lubed up.  You really have no choice but to go back to your fancy rock star suite and soak it off in the tub.  I know, poor us.

The rest of Girl-cation was kind of spur of the moment, but there was mad shopping with outrageous bargains.  I am now the proud owner of a half-price wool pea coat.  Saweeeeet!  I haven’t had a dress coat in years.

There were also martinis of many varieties.  The one pictured here is a chocolate-raspberry truffle with milk chocolate and white chocolate straws.  Yummmmm.

I learned something else this weekend.  The new Wasabi restaurant in town is a one-time-only deal for me.  I’ve never had bad sushi before so I’ll chock that up as a new experience, and after the 2am

intestinal wake up call it’s one I hope to never repeat!

All in all, the relaxation was maxxed.  We couldn’t squeeze another drop of girliness out of our 3 days if we tried!  I came home feeling all chilled out and recharged, which was the whole point so the first annual Girl-cation can only be categorized as a success!
